Cvent vs Eventbrite: Which Fits Your Event (and a Third Option)

Cvent and Eventbrite are the two names most people know in events, but they were built for almost opposite purposes. Choosing between them is less about which is better and more about which kind of event you run. Here is an honest comparison, plus a third option worth knowing if neither quite fits.

What Cvent is built for

Cvent is an enterprise event platform. It is deep, powerful, and built for large organizations running dozens or hundreds of events a year with dedicated event-technology staff. Complex multi-track conferences, enterprise integrations, and granular reporting are its strengths. The tradeoffs are cost (typically five figures a year) and a setup process measured in months. We go deeper in our Cvent comparison.

What Eventbrite is built for

Eventbrite is a consumer ticketing marketplace. It is excellent for public events like concerts, festivals, and classes where being discovered by strangers matters. It is fast to list a simple event, but it puts its own brand and per-ticket service fees in front of your attendees, which feels out of place for professional or member events. More in our Eventbrite comparison.

The honest head-to-head

Choose Cvent if you are a large enterprise with a big event program, the budget for it, and the staff to run it. Choose Eventbrite if your events are public and consumer-facing and discovery is your main goal. The two rarely compete for the same buyer: one is enterprise B2B, the other is consumer marketplace.

The third option for B2B teams

Many teams land between the two. They run professional events for an audience that already knows about them, so they do not need Eventbrite's marketplace, but they also do not need Cvent's enterprise weight or price tag. That is the gap Sunfish Events fills: branded registration, member and early-bird pricing, and same-day setup, without enterprise contracts or consumer-style fees. See how the costs compare in our event registration software cost guide.
